Volunteers of America Delaware Valley launches annual Adopt A Family program

Collingswood, N.J. – Volunteers of America Delaware Valley (VOADV) has officially launched the 2024 Adopt A Family program, marking a milestone year as they prepare to serve the largest number of families in the program’s 14-year history. Adopt A Family’s mission is to connect Delaware Valley families with donors who can help make the holiday season brighter by providing toys, food, and other basic necessities to those in need of assistance.

“This year, we’re reaching more families than ever before, which reflects the incredible support and kindness of our community,” says Daniel L. Lombardo, President/CEO of VOADV. “The holidays aren’t just about the gifts – they’re about uplifting families and ensuring they feel supported and valued during a time that can often be challenging.”

Since 2011, VOADV’s Adopt A Family program has provided holiday gifts, meals, and more to vulnerable families and children throughout the Delaware Valley – from Southern and Central New Jersey to Philadelphia and the surrounding counties – through the support of individual donors, civic and religious organizations, community programs, and corporate partners.

Participation in Adopt A Family continues to be easier and more personalized with the program’s online matching tool, which allows donors to view and select families based on size and characteristics such as veteran status, special needs families, non-parental guardians and more. Satellite drop-off locations in Atlantic City, Trenton and Vineland streamline the drop off process and make it simple for donors to participate.

“This year’s record-breaking number of families we are able to serve is a testament to the generosity and compassion of our community,” says Alexis Degan, VP of Development and Communications at VOADV. “The growth of Adopt A Family shows how much can be achieved when people come together to support their neighbors. We’ve worked to make the process easier and more impactful for donors, and we’re thrilled to see how that effort is helping us serve more families than ever before.

The Adopt A Family program is made possible through the support of generous corporate donors, strategic partnerships with local businesses, and individual sponsors. The annual Radiothon in partnership with 97.5 BEN FM and 6ABC will take place December 11 at the Cherry Hill Mall, featuring special guests and prizes including concert tickets, gift cards and more.

VOADV also acknowledges the vital contributions of businesses like Office Basics, Title America, Enterprise, Byers Industrial Services, Super Buy Rite, Holman, American Construction, Information Consulting Services, Ace Elevator, NJM Insurance Group and Cathedral Kitchen, who have already given their support for 2024.
