Operation Blessing

As the holidays approach, the people we serve – especially the children - enjoy many dreams but also face many challenges. This year you can help them overcome their challenges, and even help make their dreams come true.

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley’s ‘Operation Blessing’ Caring Gifts Campaign aims to address the practical needs of more than 5,000 less fortunate men, women, children, and families in the Delaware Valley.

There are several ways to become involved in ‘Operation Blessing:’

  • Adopt-A-Family- The 2009 campaign begins in early November when our families in transitional living programs make their holiday wishes. Donors can choose to grant the wishes of an individual or family.

  • The Gift of Warmth – More then 1,000 women, men, and children find refuge in our shelters each year. During the cold-and-wet winter months, life on the street is especially harsh.  From November 2 to February 15 Volunteers of America Delaware Valley will collect donations of new gloves, hats, scarves, ear muffs, blankets, linen, footwear, undergarments, socks, and coats.

  • Toy Drive – Bring new toys to our administrative office or any of our program locations in the Delaware Valley, and we will see to it that needy children have a Merry Christmas. The toy drive begins November 2 and ends December 18.

  • Help Feed The Hungry – Beginning November 2 until January 31, please bring canned goods and nonperishable food items to our administrative office to help support our homelessness prevention program.

Cash donations are also welcome and can be mailed or delivered to Volunteers of America Delaware Valley, 235 White Horse Pike, Collingswood, NJ 08107.

For information, call Volunteer Coordinator Kelli Wright, 856-854-4660, ext. 138.
